Forestry and Natural Resources Specialist

Mr. Md. Yunus Ali was the Chief Conservative of Forests, from January 2012 to January 2017. He also completed his 32 Years career in January 2017, after successful completion as public service in Bangladesh and deeply involved with government policy formulation, development of strategy plan very relevant to forestry development.

Highly experienced professional, with successful track record for over thirty two (32) years in the Forest Department under the ministry of Environment and Forests of Government of Bangladesh. Experienced in Planning, implementation, monitoring& evaluation of forestry programme in Bangladesh. Extra ordinary visionary personality in the forestry sector. He has special attention to social forestry and co-management of the national resources of the country.

2020-2022, Forestry Specialist, Preparation of Forestry Sector Action Plan for GoB, under Creative Consultants International Ltd, contracted by FSP&CD Project, Planning Commission, Ministry of Planning

2017 to 2019, Advisor of biodiversity and Ecosystem-Employer, Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS), House Number 6, Road Number 23C, Gulshan-1, Dhaka.

Senior Advisor to Bhandu Foundation, Lalmatia, Dhaka (part time from 2021 to date): experience of certified emission reduction (CER) through mangroves plantation. Carbon credit from voluntary market @2 $US per metric ton CER. This is a conceptual framework tested and verified by independent team, subject to identify the mangrove plantation for 7 years monitoring of carbon enhancement. This will be unique in LULUCF sector most viable contribution of emissions reduction in a developing country where REED+ readiness phase is not yet complete. The strategy is yet to draft and adoption on due consultation, giving due diligence to Free Prior & Informed Consent.

He was the Head  of the Executing Agency  of two World Bank financed Projects; (1) Climate Resilient Afforestation and Reforestation Project; (2) Strengthening Regional Cooperation for Wildlife  Protection Project  from  2012 to 2016 in the Forest Department, Bangladesh  

Worked as a Specialist of Regulation and Organization in the World bank financed Sustainable Forest and Livelihood Project from March 2021 to September 2022 and from January 2024 to date (December/ 2024)

Attended a very good number of national and international seminars organized by the Government Department, Ministry and Development Projects, Research Organizations and Donors.
